Kuala Lumpur, 3 January 2008 - To kick-off the new year, Alliance Bank has teamed up with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) on its latest savings campaign in a move to remind customers and Malaysians the importance of savings. The partnership will see Alliance Bank presenting a limited edition WWF "Virtual Pet" coinbank to every new or existing customer who deposits a minimum of RM3,000 into their savings account between now and 30 June 2008.
In addition, for every WWF "Virtual Pet" coinbank that is given away, Alliance Bank will donate RM2.00 to WWF.
The WWF limited edition "Virtual Pet" coinbanks are available in the form of one of the following endangered species -- turtle, orang-utan or tiger. The coinbanks are capable of displaying different emotions - happy when they are "fed" or sad when they are "hungry".
Liew Swee Lin, Alliance Bank's Group Head of Consumer Banking, says: "This savings campaign is very much in line with the Bank's commitment to make banking personal to our partners. While the campaign is designed to promote savings among our customers, it also offers them the opportunity to play a role in the community. In encouraging our customers to save, we are presenting them with an item of potential value while supporting a worthy cause in the form of WWF."
Ms Choon Bow Bow, WWF-Malaysia's Director of Marketing said, "WWF-Malaysia thanks Alliance Bank for their exemplary corporate social responsibility stance in supporting environmental conservation. In line with the bank's aim of encouraging people to save, we would like to encourage everyone to help save their natural heritage - one crucial source of our country's wealth. WWF-Malaysia thanks the Malaysian people, whose contributions are helping to fund 21 crucial conservation projects. We hope that the "Virtual Pet" coinbank will get a similarly warm reception from the generous Malaysian public.
The WWF "Virtual Pet" coinbanks are exclusive to the Alliance Bank savings campaign and come with serialised certificates for the owners, making them potential collectors' item. A total of 20,000 units for the 3 species are produced and they are not expected to be marketed following the conclusion of the campaign.
"The campaign enables us to promote savings among our customers while helping them to understand the value of life through this unique programme. I am sure that customers will be more appreciative and supportive of the campaign knowing that they are contributing positively towards theirs and the country's future," said Liew.
The Campaign is open to all existing and potential individual customers who open or top-up a Conventional Savings account, a Basic Savings Account, an Alliance Senior Savers account, an AllianceSave Pendidikan account or a Mudharabah SA-i account at any of Alliance Bank's 77 branches located throughout Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
